Update on Phase 2 at UF Proton Therapy Institute and my journey thru Prostate Cancer with the discovery of Proton Therapy Thru August 6, 2017 Thanks to all who are helping with our house while we are gone. Phase 2 Treatments at the UF Proton Therapy Institute are now complete and the hardest part of all is over. The facility is incredible - everyone there is so happy, unlike how it was when Debbie had cancer and was getting treatment. The trip went well - John never wants to have this Space Oar Gel Insertion ever again and I did not want to know what they did. Just the basics of this was enough for me. It was not pleasant but he did get to take 8 valiums and 2 other pain killers before, so that helped alot. Click here for more about the Space Gel Oar treatment. A MRI and Cat Scan was completed on Friday - A Comparison study of Proton therapy versus normal surgery Radiation treatments will be completed by our Dr and sent to Florida Blue Cross to approve or deny the next treatment for Phase 3 - 6 weeks of daily treatment in Jacksonville. This should take about a week and the hope is it will be approved by the end of this week and we will be heading to Jacksonville for 6 weeks of daily treatment on August 21, 2017. If the insurance denys it, they will file an appeal and that would take another week. Now we wait...
